Odisha Train Accident: Death toll 280; 900 Injured | PM Modi to Visit Accident Site
India has witnessed one of the worst railway disasters ever as trains collide and derail one after the other causing a tragic accident in Odisha. At least 280 (updated) people were killed and more than 900 injured in this horrific sequence in the Balasore district, setting off a massive rescue and evacuation process. The mishap happened near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, around 7 pm on Friday. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has mobilized all the aid for the search and rescue operations in the aftermath of the Coromandel Express accident and has promised to visit the scene the next morning. PM Modi to visit the accident site today (03-06-23) followed by the hospital in Cuttack.
