AVM Heritage Museum – Location | Timing | Ticket Price


AVM Studios is a pioneer in the film industry and produced more than 160 movies. It is one of the oldest film studios in India, founded by Sri. A.V Meyyappan. It has been 77 years, and still in the field because they are constantly adapting and learning what’s new and the latest technologies on time. Moreover, the rotating AVM globe is a landmark of Chennai, and you can see that in many movies. Now they opened a AVM Heritage Museum to showcase what are the transformations and techniques of cinema in 100 years.

What Is Inside The Heritage Museum?

AVM Heritage Musem was opened for public, and people can have a look at Audio & Video equipment, the camera used to shoot classic films like ‘Murattu Kaalai’ ‘Sakala Kalaa Vallavan’ ‘Mundhanai Mudichu’ ‘Samsaaram Ath Minsaaram’ and ‘Yejamaan’.

And you can see the palanquins used in the ‘Vaaji Vaaji’ song and the 1939 model MG TB car used in the ‘Athiradee karan’ song in the Sivaji movie. It would be a pleasure for Superstar Rajinikanth fans.

You can see more than 45 classic cars and 20 bikes fit in the time period of 1910 to 2000, and these will work like a time travel for visitors to experience the good old days of automobiles. The car used by actor and CM Dr M.G.R will be there, and you can witness the elegance of those cars.

The museum will be open to the public from 10 P.M to 5 P.M, Wednesday to Monday. The hall will be closed on Tuesdays and National Holidays.

Inauguration

This Heritage Museum was inaugurated by the honourable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on May 2023. Actors Kamal Hassan, Siva Kumar, and lyricist Vaira Muthu attended this event.
