Barroz is a Malayalam film directed and performed by Mohanlal. It is his directional debut. The epic fantasy drama also features Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Guru Somasundaram, Ignacio Mateos, and Kallirroi Tziafeta in supporting roles. Lydian Nadhaswaram composed the songs and soundtracks. Antony Perumbavoor produced the film under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner. The film was shot in 3D, and it will be released in Mid-2023.

Jijo Punnosse penned the screenplay. He is known for creating India’s first 3D movie, My Dear Kuttichathan. The film is based on Jijo’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The movie was mostly shot in Kochi, Goa, Bangkok, and Chennai. The plot revolves around a 400-year-old guardian spirit who was tasked to guard and hand over the wealth to a true descendant of its master.
