Finally, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi approved the bill banning online rummy (gambling) in the state. Playing online rummy is now illegal in Tamil Nadu. A fine of Rupees 5 thousand (5000) or 3 months imprisonment will be imposed if anyone plays online rummy. Players across the state are in shock by the decision.

Last month, the Tamil Nadu assembly unanimously re-adopted the Bill to ban online gambling, and it has been re-sent to the Governor for his assent. Today, the governor approved the ban after a heavy push from TN Chief Minister MK Stalin.
