On 6th January 2023, DMK Minister KN Nehru slapped the councilor publicly during the inauguration of the overhead reservoir tank in Trichy. It was caught on camera, and the video went viral on the internet. He slapped Councilor at an event while distributing water containers to the people.

KN Nehru is a Minister for Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply. He is also the Principal Secretary of DMK and MLA of the Tiruchirappalli West constituency.
