The Russian PT-76 (Palavushi Tanka), also known as “Pippa,” was an amphibious combat tank that was used in the film.
The Indian Army was unfamiliar with this tank and riverine terrain at the time. After the 1965 conflict, the 45 Cavalry received the tank, which had a three-man crew and was built to resemble a boat.
Due to its surprise value to the adversary, this tank went on to play a significant role in helping to win the war. Mehta discussed the origin of the book’s idea with The Tribune in an interview.
