Sudheer Babu is a fine artist and he has proved it once again with the film. His role demands maturity and he gave a systematic performance as a film director. His acting in the key sequences in the second half is neat and brings the necessary depth.
Kriti Shetty has probably got the best role of her career and has given a stellar performance. Her character is well written and Kriti does full justice to it. The whole movie revolves around his role and he is just brilliant. The interval twist is impressive.

The director has handled the emotional angle very well. The apprehensions of a family when their child wants to get into the film industry is well demonstrated. The director tried to balance this family drama by adding a comic element and he was successful in this aspect. Sudheer Babu’s co-director Vennela Kishore made both the halves laugh with his one-liners.

Although the film is attractive, it has its drawbacks. The pacing has been very slow in the first half and in some parts in the later hours. The director opted for longer sequences which would be boring at times. More trimming is needed to make it even better.

The theme of the film is something that may not be liked by the public. Some characters are not handled well and are inconsistent. The first half of the film is quite generic and took a long time to get into the actual plot.
Also, the film falls flat most of the time and is also predictable. A good romantic drama needs a better album to lift the drama, but the songs are overwhelming and don’t create much of an impact.

Though the songs are not that good, Vivek Sagar’s BGM is fair. Camera Work Pg Vindha is very good. The production prices are high and the producers spent what was required for the film.
Coming to director Indraganti Mohanakrishna, he has once again chosen a sensible family drama that had more emotion and did a fine job of making a compelling film. Though the magic of his earlier films is missing a bit, he still delivers a good film here.
Overall, Aa Ammayi Gurunchi Miku Cheppali is a popular romantic drama with a low-par first half and a good second half. Excellent performance by the lead pair, good emotional scenes and fun parts are its assets.

On the other hand, the slow narrative, lack of continuity, length and some boring scenes bring down the film which would have been more magical otherwise. You can watch the film keeping your expectations under control.

Mohan Krishna writes a song for Indraganti Cinema and Pyaar with Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Miku Cheppali (AAGMC). And this is where the film’s similarities with Sammohannam end as the director makes sure to tell you a whole new story this time around. It’s a different matter that there are some tried-and-tested tropes in the narrative.
While the film begins shaky, leaving you scratching your head and wondering where he wants this story to take, everything makes sense by the time the end credits roll around.
Naveen (Sudheer Babu) has delivered six consecutive hits with commercial films in six years, one of which is the hilarious one titled ‘Kasak’. While his films can earn huge numbers at the box office, he has often faced the wrath of critics including his co-director Bose (Venela Kishore) and friend, writer Venkataraman (Rahul Ramakrishna).

Naveen gives a chance on the reel of a beautiful girl (Kriti Shetty) one day and she is mesmerized. He suddenly wasn’t interested in following the same old punch dialogues-special numbers-fights-et al formula.
Tracking down the girl in the reel might just give her a lot more than she anticipated.
Too many films typically suffer from ‘second half syndrome’, in which a director gets so excited to reveal so much that the payoff pales in comparison.
With AAGMC, it is the other way around. Mohan takes his sweet time to set up Naveen’s life and show us how Dr. Alekha (Kriti Shetty) and his family hate films, even though we don’t know the reason. There’s also a conversation revolving around the art – if it’s only worth it when it brings fame and money to the artist, a poorly made special number that the director tries to make a point of and fails, Hearts of Gold.
Producers and even loss-making scenes in a film industry that is considered oh-so-glamorous. Though there are some glimpses of how all the characters they’re setting up are real, flawed, most importantly – human.
But it is pre-interval where a turning point unfolds, that the film really comes into focus. From behaving like a Naveen Masala hero, he becomes a kind person. The tone of the film also shifts with them, congratulating Mohan to make it subtle rather than jarring.

Because the film’s music (by Vivek Sagar) also goes from old numbers to something beautiful like Kotha Kotha Ga. Dr. Alekhya’s hesitation and his father’s (Srikanth Iyengar) anger suddenly mean so much. Mohan especially has done a good job in embodying the characters of his parents. It’s a strange paradox to be the parent of a girl, it seems.
You are so busy saving her from the world that you forget to be proud. The director also deserves praise for handling certain social topics with sensitivity rather than going over-the-top.
Sudheer Babu, Kriti Shetty and Srikanth Iyengar carry the film on their capable shoulders, delivering performances that mature as the layers of their characters peel back. Venela Kishore is a delight, so are Rahul Ramakrishna and Srinivas Avasarala.
The rest of the actors also do a good job. AAGMC is by no means a perfect film as there are scenes you wish were better written and the dialogue was deeper. But it does exactly what Mohan intended – a love letter to cinema and even a glimpse behind the way some things work in the film industry. Watch this weekend if you don’t mind a film that releases slowly.
