Asad Rauf

Asad Rauf was a former Pakistani umpire and cricketer. He was one of the ICC Elite Umpire Panel members from 2006 to 2013. He played Pakistani domestic cricket from 1977 to 1991 representing Pakistan Universities, Lahore, and Pakistan Railway. He did his debut as an umpire in the One Day International match between Pakistan and Srilanka. He officiated as an umpire in 139 ODIs, 28T20Is, and 64 Tests (49 in the field and 15 as TV umpire). Asad Rauf died today (September 15, 2022) due to cardiac arrest.

  • He was not an active person on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • As per the sources, Rauf’s brother Tahir said that Asad Rauf was returning home after closing his clothing shop at Landa Bazaar in Lahore. He felt a slite discomfort in his chest, and he was soon rushed to hospital but unfortunately, he couldn’t be revived.
  • During his time in the ICC Elite Umpire Panel, he was alleged to involve in match-fixing and spot-fixing of cricket matches.
  • He was found guilty on February 2016 of corruption by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, he was banned for 5 years.
